Let the Caulk Jokes Begin...

This weekend was all about caulk around our house.  It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it!  Okay, it's not really that dirty... Let's just start over.  Everybody get their minds out of the gutter.

We had some pretty good cracks in our caulk around our house.  Why this happens? I have no idea.  We just know it looks bad and needs to be fixed.  Pronto.

The re-caulking started at the baseboards for the stairs.  Check out that crack!

We didn't bother taping this time only because we are planning on touching up the hallways soon so I'll be able to touch up any extra caulk soon.

Never underestimate the power of a wet finger when you're dealing with caulk.  No really, that bowl on the stairs is filled with water.  Dip your finger in that and you'll be able to spread the caulk nice and smooth.

Crack-be-gone!  Caulk is good stuff!

We also decided to give our master bathroom vanity a little extra caulk.  Whatever type of caulk the granite installation people used must not have been very strong or durable.  Within days, it began to crack.  We chose an Almond color so it wouldn't be as stark against the darker granite.

It was important to tape it off this time to ensure a nice clean line since we wouldn't be painting.

And then smooth it out!

It's great to have nice clean lines again and to know that no water can seep down into spots where it's not allowed to be.

Did you guys play with caulk over weekend?  Err.... You know what I mean.  I'll just stop while I'm ahead.
